The Late Middle Ages or Late Medieval Period was the period of European history lasting from 1250 to 1500 AD. The Late Middle Ages followed the High Middle Ages and preceded the onset of the early modern era (and, in much of Europe, the Renaissance).
A brigandine is a type of armour for body from the Middle Ages. It is a cloth or leather with steel plates riveted to the fabric inside.
In medieval Europe in 14 century brigandines were made mostly from large horizontally-elongated plates, and most often were worn on top of the gambeson or chain mail.
